Road Repair Project Update 5-23-2014
There will be no work during the Memorial Day Weekend.
East Lake Drive. Kerns Excavating will continue work on East Lake Drive beginning on Tuesday next week. They will be focusing on installing the storm sewer pipes across East Lake Drive. East Lake Drive will be closed to vehicles between Lot 4 and Lot 10. They will be work north to south.
While storm sewer installation is underway, road grading will continue with rock surfacing being installed on the private drives disturbed during this project beginning on Thursday.
The parking lot east of the playground will be enlarged southerly toward the Community Building allowing spaces for an additional 18 vehicles.
Following this work, asphalt millings and smaller rock will be placed on East Lake Drive and smoothed out in preparation of the Chip Seal project slated for June and July.
Scheduled Power Outage. OPPD will be relocating a power pole near lot 10 on Wednesday, May 28. The outage will be a good part of the day and will affect homes just south and all homes north of lot 10 on East Lake Drive and all homes on Bull Frog Bay Drive. OPPD will contact all customers that they can through their call system. In the event of inclement weather OPPD will reschedule accordingly.
OPPD will also be having an outage for all of Mid Lake Drive for the replacement of a pole (this work is not related to the construction project). OPPD has not determined the date for his work but it may occur as early as Wednesday, May 28. OPPD intends to provide an update on Tuesday as to when this work is scheduled.
West Shore Drive. Construction on West Shore Drive will begin approximately May 29 with material being removed to reestablish grade. Kerns Excavating will be working from the North to the South. Grading on Bull Frog Bay Drive will also begin on approximately May 29.
Kerns’ work on East Lake Drive is scheduled to be completed by early June with work on West Shore Drive to be completed by mid-June.
Asphalt Repair. Old Castle Materials Midwest Co. d/b/a/ Omni Engineering of Omaha, NE will be making repairs to the section of the asphalt road damaged during the flood fight and restoration efforts. This includes repair to the cuts through West Shore Drive near the Caretaker’s home.
Work is scheduled to be completed in June 2014.
Chip Seal. Sta-Built Construction of Harlan, IA will be stabilizing the road base on East Lake Drive, West Shore Drive and Bull Frog Bay Drive. Upon stabilization of the road base a seal coat surface will be applied to all roads including Mid Lake Drive. The seal coat surface incudes the application of asphaltic cement and loose rock. Some tracking of the loose stone is expected in this process.
Work is scheduled to be begin on or before June 15, 2014 and be completed by July 31, 2014.
No work is allowed on July 3, 2014 through July 6, 2014 and the road will be in a passable condition for passenger vehicles during the period of July 3 through July 6, 2014.
